Q & A with Sarah Ioannides

Sixth and final season with El Paso Symphony Orchestra
El Paso Inc. Article by David Crowder

Although Sarah Ioannides, maestra of El Paso Symphony Orchestra, still has six subscription concerts and five special events to conduct this season, some are already lamenting her announced departure.

For five seasons, the woman with Hepburn good looks, a dancer’s grace and an adventurous musical flair, has captivated El Paso audiences from the conductor’s stand. Those attributes are also making her famous. click here to read article in its entirety.

Concert Reviews

Ioannides'  Scandanavian tour featured performances with the Västerås Sinfonietta and Nordic Chamber Orchestra. Performances included Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Clara Schumann's Piano Concerto and Andrea Tarrodi's 2009 compostition, Zephyros , the grand prize winner in the Uppsala Composition Competition.

Västerås Sinfonietta
"The young but already experienced guest conductor Ioannides, showed refined leadership. She was especially impressive in the Mozart symphony, free from both sheet music and mannerism. "

Nordic Chamber Orchestra
"The orchestra under guest conductor Sarah Ioannides produced an exhilarating tension balancing the shifting musical sentiment."
