World Premiers Drive 2008 – 2009 Season
 
Receiving phenomenal press for innovative programming, Music Director Sarah Ioannides’ fall season reflects numerous collaborations with an international array of living composers. Among the core of traditional and celebrated symphonic repertoire including Sibelius, Mendelssohn, Haydn, Beethoven and Berlioz, Ioannides brings premiers and commissions from Sweden, Mexico, Italy, Cyprus and Australia to her subscription concerts and guest engagements.

headlined the recent review of the El Paso Symphony Orchestra's performance with violinist Chloe Hanslip and featuring the world premier of Osvaldo Mendoza's,  A la Deriva. "An intriguing work..... written with fluid grace" (El Paso Inc), Mendoza's composition, based on the Horacio Quiroga story, A la Deriva was inspired by Revuelta's "Sensemaya", also performed on this Spanish and Latin flavored program. 
 
Sarah Ioannides Debut with the Nordic Chamber Orchestra .....
presented the world premier of Venla Hinnemo's Reactions of the Mind in a program of leading women composers that included the Higdon Oboe Concerto and Louise Ferrenc's Symphony No. 3.  "Ioannides is a dynamic and expressive conductor ..............The performance was full of vitality, loaded with rhythmical ideas, unexpected surprises and variations in mood."

Cyprus State Orchestra Tours American Program 
Entitled Music From a New World, Ioannides led the Cyprus State Orchestra in four performances of prominent American works; Copland’s Appalachian Spring, Barber’s Violin Concerto and Corigliano’s Elegy in addition to the world premier of Cypriot composer, Vassos Nicolaou’s Fractus.
 
The US Premier of Academy Award Winning Composer Dario Marianelli’s ....
Suite from Atonement will be performed by the El Paso Symphony Orchestra with guests, pianist, Awadagin Pratt and cellist, Ben Hong as part of the El Paso Pro Musica Film Festival. Ioannides and Marianelli have collaborated since both attending the Guildhall School of Music and additionally worked together during the recording of the film score from The Warrior in 2005.

review of the world premier recording of Matthew Hindson's Violin Concerto by Sarah Ioannides and Lara St. John with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.   St John’s guest appearance with the Spartanburg Philharmonic Orchestra opened Ioannides’ 08 – 09 season to enthusiastic audiences praising the new recording and St. John’s display of virtuosity.
Ioannides' 2008-2009 season additionally features performances with pianist, Lukas Vondrecek, violists, Miles Hoffman and Roberto Diaz, pianist George Li and cellist Zuill Bailey.
